Obtaining a Contractors License

Contractors License

Contractors who are working within City limits must obtain a Contractors License granted through the City Contractors Board, per the following link:

City of Cody Contractors

A list of Licensed City of Cody Contractors is available. A Licensed City of Cody Contractor must have a proven work record, reliable references, applicable state license and liability insurance. All work on commercial buildings must be performed by licensed contractors. Unless the owner of the residential property is performing the work, the work must be completed by a licensed contractor.

Licensed Contractor Process

(When required for your licensing category)
For some categories, in order to become a licensed City of Cody Contractor you will need to first become a member with the International Code Council.  Then once you become a member you will then select the test you want to take and then pay for it.  Once you have paid for the test, then you will have to go into your MyICC Login.  Then you will have to select the test you want to take and it will then ask where (what location) you want to take your test.  This is when you choose Pearson Vue in Billings.  That is the closest testing location for local contractors.  If you are not a local contractor, choose the closest location for you.

Please visit the website for testing information through International Code Council: ICC.
